The idea that I had for my project is to have my students learn how to film a live performance and then edit it using Windows Movie Maker. This is the Utah Core Curriculum requirement that it meets:
THEATRE FOUNDATIONS III
Standard 3 (Designing/Implementing): Students will use the basicelements of design.
Objective 2TECHNOLOGY Investigate the technical skills required to execute a design.
Articulate the technical skills required to implement a designconcept; i.e., from the viewpoint of set, costuming, lighting, sound,make-up, and props. Explain how electronic technology might enhance a dramatic presentation.
What I would have them do is have them film all their scene performances throughout the semester and then at the end of the year they would need to compile them together and create a CD that has all of their classwork on it. This way they have an actual visual portfolio of their acting work that they can then use for scholorship and college applications as well as other auditions. What I will be turning in for my final project is just a sample video of a scene that I recorded in an acting class that I will have edited using Windows Movie Maker.
